No. WATCH D.O.G.S is a nationally recognized program with other implementations across JeffCo. The program has been around since 1998 and has been featured on ABC World News Tonight, NBC’s Nightly News and The Today Show. Also, the program has been recognized on the floor of Congress as a program that “can be a great tool in our efforts to prevent school violence and improve student performance because it can increase parental initiative and involvement in their children’s education.”

There are 290 students at Ralston and 179 school days in the 2026-27 school year. If 60% of fathers commit one day per school year, we will be fully staffed.

No. This program is specifically designed to provide opportunities for fathers and father-figures to participate in the school community. Studies by the U.S. Department of Education have demonstrated that a positive adult male role model will have a uniquely positive impact on the development and educational success of a child.

Yes!

This program is designed to be a full-day commitment. If you want to volunteer but cannot commit to a full day, it will be your responsibility to organize coverage for that day with another dad.

Comfortable walking shoes. You will be provided with a vest/t-shirt and radio for the day. A free school lunch is provided or pack your own.

We want you to hold the door open starting at 7:30 until 7:50 a.m. The day ends after school at 2:45 p.m.
